Following
a successful Christmas Panto (involving 40 children) and a ‘Ladies Night’,
where the Shinty and Drama Club combined to put on a fundraising adult show,
the new season starts on Monday 19 February in Newtonmore Village Hall, and
will feature a ‘Taster’ session for adults.
New
Adult Members
As
well as the ongoing drama coaching for the kids, the club are hoping to write
and put on more adult themed productions in 2007 and would welcome new adult
members. Anyone interested in taking part in any capacity whether to act ,write , help backstage or organise funding
should come along to the Taster session for adults at 7.30 (after the
Children’s workshop).
The
recent involvement of younger adult members is particularly heartening. They can
testify to the laughs and camaraderie in being involved with an amateur
community production as well as learning new skills and increasing their self
esteem.
The
Taster will include free wine, videos of previous shows and a fun (voluntary) drama
workshop.
The Children
Workshops for this Monday will be 6-6.45pm for the Primary children and 6.45
-7.30 for S1 –S4.The Adult “Taster”
Session will start at 7.30pm.
In
addition to the Drama club productions, the club are contributing to the
Newtonmore Dramin Festival (part funded by the Highland Year of Culture) and
including Drama, storytelling, family ceilidhs and live bands over 3 days and
involving different venues throughout Newtonmore.
Any
other local groups wishing to participate please contact the Club or Angela Cox
